Enterprise Bank Selects Mimosa NearPoint
To get integrated archive for email, files, eDiscovery and search capabilities
This is a Press Release edited by StorageNewsletter.com on November 23, 2009 at 3:32 pmMimosa Systems, Inc. announced that Lowell-Mass. based Enterprise Bank has standardized on Mimosa NearPoint to deliver integrated content archiving, eDiscovery and end-user self-service search for the company’s newly deployed Microsoft Exchange infrastructure. Chosen for its ability to archive email, files and SharePoint in a single, searchable solution, Mimosa NearPoint has eliminated user requests to recover individual email items, saving valuable IT resources.
Enterprise Bank is a commercial bank and financial services company that is committed to remaining independent. The bank serves financial needs of businesses, non-profits, professional practices, high net worth individuals, and their related consumer needs. As its name suggests, Enterprise Bank is dedicated to the advancement of the ‘entrepreneurial spirit.’ With 16 full-service branch offices, the bank sees itself as a new kind of independent, innovative bank – one that stimulates the economy by helping to create new businesses, meaningful jobs, vibrant communities, and a dynamic work environment in which employees can grow and prosper.
With rapid growth being derived from its entrepreneurial mission, Enterprise Bank decided to migrate from Novell GroupWise to Microsoft Exchange to better support its communications infrastructure. Email had become the backbone application for company communication and with its GroupWise environment, archiving and individual item recovery was not possible. As a result, the active community bank also sought a comprehensive archiving solution that would provide complete data protection, proactive eDiscovery, and end-user search functionality in a unified offering.
"We looked at Computer Associates and EMC, but Mimosa impressed us with their ability to support email archiving without traditional journaling that would impact system performance," said Paul Rosseau, vice president technology services, Enterprise Bank. "In addition to NearPoint’s ability to not put any overhead on our Exchange server, we also liked that NearPoint could archive email, files and SharePoint in a single solution while also giving our end-users a seamless interface to search and recover their own content."
Enterprise Bank deployed NearPoint for Exchange and files in its virtualized infrastructure and plans to add SharePoint archiving support in the near future. Following its NearPoint installation, IT requests for individual item recoveries such as those for emails, contacts or calendar items have been eliminated by using the self-service recovery application, while legal and human resources departments now have the ability to perform eDiscovery without any IT interaction.
Key features of NearPoint important to Enterprise Bank include:
- Next-generation architecture: Mimosa NearPoint’s unique architecture does not require journaling or any agents on either the Exchange Server or user desktops. This ensures that there is no impact on Enterprise Bank’s production Exchange Server performance.
- Efficient eDiscovery: Mimosa NearPoint has several features that expedite the eDiscovery process for Enterprise Bank by leveraging complete content capture. These features include individual item-level legal holds, conversation and proximity analysis, and an intuitive search within a search – while demonstrating chain of custody as archived content moves through the workflow.
- Self-service search of archived data: Enterprise Bank’s employees working on computers have seamless self-service access to their archived data, enabling them to find potentially lost or deleted messages without IT assistance.
- File System Archiving (FSA): Enterprise Bank IT can now easily set policies to scan file shares and capture files based on archiving policies. Captured files are indexed and archived and then NearPoint FSA de-duplicates across multiple file shares, as well as across messages and attachments, for global single-instancing across content sources.
"Fast-growing financial institutions like Enterprise Bank value the efficiencies of an integrated archive solution like NearPoint for comprehensive protection, retention, discovery and recovery of email, file and SharePoint data," said T.M. Ravi, CEO of Mimosa Systems. "Mimosa delivers the archiving solution of choice for these companies as they work to assure regulatory compliance and eDiscovery readiness without adding additional impact on IT systems or staff."
