PeakData Services and NetApp Partnering
For onsite disk eradication services
This is a Press Release edited by StorageNewsletter.com on November 6, 2009 at 2:52 pmHeadquartered in Boulder County, CO, PeakData Services, Inc., an IT provider dedicated to information security compliance and risk mitigation services, has partnered with NetApp, Inc. to offer NetApp enterprise customers data security services including onsite disk data eradication and disk physical destruction and recycling.
The services provide customers who have failed or retired hard disk drives with complete and verifiable removal of data without interrupting business-critical operations. These services are available immediately to NetApp commercial customers worldwide.
The Onsite Disk Data Eradication Service erases all data from hard disk drives to prevent confidential information from falling into the wrong hands. The service is fully auditable, complies with multiple international published standards and generates the detailed reporting required to satisfy today’s tough state and local government and industry regulatory compliance requirements.
The Disk Physical Destruction and Recycling Service is performed when disk drives fail eradication or require destruction according to customer information protection policies. The service employs disk destruction methodologies that shred hard disk drives into miniscule pieces. The remains are recycled and disposed of in compliance with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency WasteWise Program, EU Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment Directive and all state, local and federal regulations.
"The trend continues to point to more and stricter rules regarding protection of personally identifiable information (PII). Enterprise customers store vast amounts of such information on disks that are no longer viable. We help them eliminate the risk associated with these media assets," said Glenn Jacobsen, vice president and general manager of PeakData Services. "We are excited to be partnering with NetApp to increase the accessibility of these services that are demanded by their customers."
"Our customers expect the highest levels of security, even for storage media that are no longer in use," said Steve Hanney, vice president of Professional Services, NetApp. "PeakData Services expertise in partnership with NetApp’s Professional Services team bring real value to our customers by offering a comprehensive offering to eliminate the risks associated with failed and obsolete storage media. We have enjoyed a fruitful partnership with PeakData for some time now and look forward to expanding our joint efforts."
