LiveOffice Deployed Isilon IQ
For hosted email archiving
This is a Press Release edited by StorageNewsletter.com on November 6, 2009 at 2:51 pmIsilon Systems announced that LiveOffice, provider of hosted email archiving solutions, has deployed Isilon IQ to reduce storage infrastructure costs – including initial system purchase costs and operational expenditures on management, power and cooling – by 75 percent.
Using Isilon scale-out NAS, LiveOffice has unified massive email archives onto a single, high-performance, highly scalable, shared pool of storage to reduce capital and operational expenditures, while increasing workflow efficiency. Isilon IQ, featuring its OneFS operating system, delivers industry-leading utilization of more than 80 percent and linear scaling of performance and capacity, enabling LiveOffice to purchase only the minimum capacity necessary up front, while maintaining the flexibility to grow the system on-demand as needs evolve.
"As demand for our services has grown, we’ve responded by rapidly scaling our business, from services to IT infrastructure," said Alexander Rusich, chief visionary officer, LiveOffice. "Though this has been good for our bottom line, it was a nightmare for our traditional storage system, which, had we tried to scale it to meet our rapid data growth, would have been far too expensive to justify the investment. By moving to Isilon, we’ve reduced storage costs by 75 percent, significantly increasing our business agility and operating leverage."
LiveOffice provides more than 9,000 clients with a unique combination of email management services delivered via the software-as-service model, enabling its customers to access and search their mailboxes around-the-clock. By deploying nearly 400 terabytes of Isilon’s 12000 and EX12000 nodes to support its rapidly growing business, LiveOffice significantly reduced capital expenditures related to the initial system purchase. The company also reduced operational expenditures including storage management, power and cooling costs, providing LiveOffice the opportunity to continue expanding its business and reallocate valuable resources to higher-order priorities, further driving efficiency in its workflow. In addition, leveraging Isilon’s asynchronous data replication software, SyncIQ, LiveOffice can replicate data to a second Isilon cluster, ensuring the highest levels of protection for its clients’ data.
"In today’s business world, email remains the dominant form of communication, providing the basis for company interaction and record-keeping," said Sam Grocott, senior director of product management, Isilon Systems. "LiveOffice is a pioneer and leader in enabling enterprises to maximize the value of this critical information, but, like many companies today, the edict remains: ‘do more with less.’ With Isilon, they’ve been able to do just that – drive increased revenue and customer acquisition, while reducing costs and better utilizing existing resources."
