MCE Resells BlueArc Mercury

For U.S. mid-market

MCE, Inc., provider of IT infrastructure solutions, is offering the BlueArc Mercury Series network storage platform that delivers business and technological benefits to the mid-market sector. The Mercury Series from BlueArc Corporation is the first storage solution in its class that combines leading-edge file system performance and data management capabilities to eliminate costly storage infrastructure ‘sprawl.’

BlueArc enlisted the insights of MCE technologists throughout development of the Mercury platform. As a result, the Mercury Series’ capabilities produce dramatic gains in storage efficiency and utilization-supporting consolidation of infrastructure and expanding capacity for growth. For mid-market companies, the Mercury Series helps resolve infrastructure sprawl, the unintended consequence of adding filers and storage tiers without the means to manage a growing number of components or move data easily where it’s needed – and when it’s no longer required.

Tim Franks, Senior Storage Architect for MCE, explains: "The Mercury Series products help make storage simple, fast, and energy efficient. This series allows for our customers to benefit from the reduced stress of maintenance and the added benefit of lowering their TCO."

A BlueArc partner since 2008, MCE helps customers make the most of BlueArc solutions. MCE, located in the heart of Silicon Valley, is a complete IT infrastructure solutions provider servicing thousands of companies from around the world in the past 35 years. Partnering with BlueArc was easy for MCE. The BlueArc products offer MCE’s customers incomparable performance, and innovative storage architecture and solutions.

"MCE’s insights will help mid-market companies implement forward-looking storage strategies with the Mercury platform, so that they can seize on new business opportunities and be prepared for growth when the economy recovers," said Bridget Warwick, vice president, marketing at BlueArc.

File-based data is growing as budgets are contracting, and for many mid-market companies, a series of the ‘right’ choices – adding storage tiers, consolidating others, introducing virtualization – have resulted in a complex storage environment that makes access to data difficult or slow. MCE helps customers take advantage of Mercury platform features that simplify storage administration and streamline data management with deduplication and automated data movement across storage tiers. The platform’s capabilities include dynamic storage allocation, intelligent tiered storage, and policy-based data protection capabilities such as clustering, snapshots and replication.

The Mercury platform architecture removes traditional performance limitations and increases throughput as well. It offers maximum file system and volume size of 256 terabytes, as well as single namespace capacity of 2 petabytes and 4 million objects per directory.
