IBM Adds 600GB 15K 6Gb SAS 3.5-inch Hot-Swap HDDs

This is a Press Release edited by StorageNewsletter.com on October 26, 2009 at 3:01 pmIBM Corp. introduces new 300 GB, 450 GB, and 600 GB SAS 3.5-inch HS HDDs for its System x. These new SAS HDDs will operate at up to 6 Gbps speeds.
They provide 3.5-inch form factor options that can be used in hot-swap systems. The new 600 GB option is the highest capacity 15K rpm drive. They offer a wider choice to satisfy the range of System x applications. These new drives are positioned at the top of our 15K SAS HDD line based on increased capacity.

- Formatted capacity: 300,000 MB to 600,000 MB drives.

- Drive media to buffer interface that supports sustained interface data transfers of up to 204 MB/s.
- Spindle speed of 15,000 rpm.
- Hot-swap capability.
- Drives are SAS interface dependent.
