Avalanche Technology and Integral Solutions International Partnering

To develop Spin Transfer Torque MRAM

Privately held California-based Integral Solutions International (ISI) and Australian company Avalanche Technology, Inc. have designed a Wafer Level Analyzer, the WLA-3000, to be used in the development of Spin Transfer Torque MRAM (STT-MRAM) a low power high speed non-volatile magnetic memory which is the leading technology candidate to replace aging charge based memories such as NOR, NAND and DRAM.

A major advancement in the characterization of magnetic memories, ISI and Avalanche codeveloped specific hardware test modules including nS-range Pulse Generator to quickly measure switching currents of STT-MRAM Magnetic Tunnel Junction (MTJ) devices as a function of Pulse Width. Using this Pulse Generator module, customers will be able to perform Error Rate, Switching Probability, Endurance Testing, and Read/Write Disturb analysis in a fraction of time as compared to other slower pulsers.

The WLA-3000 system is fully compatible with ISI’s FMRA-2008 Ferromagnetic Resonance Analyzer to offer the worlds most advanced and complete MTJ sensor analysis.

Henry Patland, President and CEO of Integral Solutions International said: “We are very pleased that through close working relationship between ISI and Avalanche Technology Inc., we were able to understand STT-MRAM industry needs and come up with a comprehensive solution in a very short period of time”.

Dr. Rajiv Ranjan, Chief Technology Officer of Avalanche Technology Inc., said: “ISI has proven to be a valuable partner in our efforts to accurately and quickly analyze our cutting edge nanoengineered memories. They share our vision of the enormous market potential of magnetic memory and developed a tool to meet the needs of industry pioneers such as Avalanche.”
