Intevac Receives Order for Two 200 Lean Systems From Unknown HDD Firm

Intevac, Inc. has received an order for two 200 Lean Gen II deposition systems with expected shipment in the fourth quarter of 2009.
"We are pleased to announce our first capacity-driven order of 2009," commented Kevin Fairbairn, president and chief executive officer of Intevac. "The upswing in demand for hard drives has led to heightened levels of media capacity utilization, which is very positive for our company."

For the next generation of HDDs, two technologies appeared to be able to increase areal density: patterned media and heat-assisted magnetic recording.
