New Versions of Sunbelt Exchange Archiver and File Archiver
Providing common user interface and search for email, file and SharePoint archives
This is a Press Release edited by StorageNewsletter.com on October 6, 2009 at 3:15 pmSunbelt Software announced the availability of Sunbelt Exchange Archiver Version 4.0 (SEA) and Sunbelt File Archiver Version 4.0 (SFA). For the first time, administrators will be able to view the management consoles for both email and file archiving tools in one user interface, easing the burden of eDiscovery for legal holds.
The updated releases also provide more powerful search functions, now utilizing Microsoft Enterprise Search and third party search support for full-text search capabilities. Additionally, improvements have been made to the reporting statistics and detailed reports can be created based on archive and retrieval for both email and files.
SEA delivers cost-effective enterprise-class email archiving for organizations of all sizes, providing administrators with intelligent features such as integrated Hierarchical Storage Management (HSM), Direct Archiving for instant archival of incoming mail, full email continuity and disaster recovery, and seamless integration with Microsoft Exchange, Outlook and Outlook Web Access (OWA). SEA enables companies to preserve all electronic messages on a broad range of storage media, offloading the strain on Exchange servers.
SFA provides a simple and reliable method for electronic document management and file archiving to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and to optimize business resources. SFA allows administrators to easily configure rules that will determine when, and what, files should be archived. This multi-faceted approach to archiving provides businesses with the flexibility required to effectively manage documents.
New tagging and commenting support allows users and administrators to assign ‘tags’ to documents and messages for easy recovery. The commenting feature provides a method of capturing additional information related to the archived items that are kept as part of the historical record. Both items are easily viewed in the unified ArchiveWeb for eDiscovery interface.
"eDiscovery can be a heavy burden in instances where litigation holds force businesses to search through thousands or millions of emails or files. The improvements to Sunbelt Exchange Archiver and Sunbelt File Archiver make searching for archived emails and other files much more efficient, saving valuable time for IT administrators," said Michelle Dillard, product manager for Sunbelt Software. "This next generation archiving approach allows our customers to view and report on the growing volume of data on their networks and to keep storage costs down while ensuring compliance."
Email continuity and disaster recovery
SEA allows full business continuity should the Exchange server go down by providing access to archived emails. In the event of a power outage, natural disaster or human error and the Exchange server crashes, SEA archives all incoming and outgoing emails to protect against email loss. Multiple saved messages on duplicate storage are retrieved quickly by the administrator and once the Exchange server is repaired or replaced, email and more importantly, business continuity is guaranteed.
eDiscovery Web interface
Easy-to-use search capabilities in SEA and SFA’s ArchiveWeb for eDiscovery interface allow users to search for archived Exchange emails, files and SharePoint documents. The searches are granular and permission-based for users, administrators, and auditors. Additionally, results can be viewed in detailed reports and exported to an internal mailbox or as PST files for portability. New in-line preview of documents and custom organization capabilities are also now available.
Pricing and availability
Both SEA and SFA v4.0 are available immediately and priced aggressively for all corporate environments and include first year maintenance and support, updates and upgrades. Customers can purchase SEA on a per-mailbox basis. SEA supports Microsoft Exchange 2000, 2003, and 2007 server systems with prices starting at $1,895.00 for 50 users. SFA pricing starts at $14.00/GB of storage up to 100GB with a sliding scale discount based on storage needs.
