Alan Atkinson President and CEO of Xiotech

Xiotech Corporation announced that Alan Atkinson has been named president and chief executive officer. He assumes the role today and succeeds Casey Powell, who served four years as the company’s CEO. Powell will stay with Xiotech as a member of its board of directors and as a strategic advisor to Atkinson.

  Atkinson comes to Xiotech from EMC, where he was vice president of the Storage Software Group. Before that, he was co-founder and CEO of WysDM Software, Inc., a company he sold to EMC in 2008. His 21-year career includes storage executive positions at several other firms including: StorageNetworks, where he served as senior vice president of engineering and product marketing and helped the firm through a successful initial public offering; Goldman Sachs, Inc., where he was responsible for the firm’s global storage infrastructure; and AT&T Bell Laboratories, where he worked in a variety of functions for the company’s mainframe and UNIX environments. Atkinson holds a Master of Science degree in computer science from the University of Pennsylvania and a bachelor’s degree in computer science from the University of Delaware.
