Ocarina De-Dupe and EMC Celerra
Now interoperable
This is a Press Release edited by StorageNewsletter.com on October 2, 2009 at 3:26 pmOcarina Networks has joined the EMC Velocity Technology and ISV Program to enhance interoperability between the Ocarina ECOsystem, a content-aware optimization technology, and EMC Celerra unified storage systems. Ocarina’s participation in the Velocity Program provides customers with an integrated solution providing additional efficiencies for the storage of file data.
"By joining EMC’s Velocity Program we’re able to extend our solutions to customers who are under pressure to do more with fewer resources and are looking for improved storage efficiency," said Dave Withers, Vice President of Strategic Markets and Business Development, Ocarina Networks. "Ocarina’s content-aware compression complements EMC Celerra’s de-duplication capability to increase customers’ storage efficiency in today’s petabyte era."
Ocarina ECOsystem provides a data reduction solution for online storage, reducing data up to 90% and decreasing the effective cost of data storage. Ocarina ECOsystem seamlessly integrates with EMC Celerra using the FileMover API providing transparent optimization to end users and applications. ECOsystem is ideally deployed in a tiered storage architecture where storage is capacity-optimized using Ocarina’s content-aware algorithms. Content specific algorithms reduce file sizes even for previously compressed data, including compressed image file formats such as JPEG. Ocarina ECOsystem for EMC Celerra is deployed as a clustered co-processor architecture that ensures high reliability and performance.
"EMC is pleased that Ocarina Networks has joined the EMC Velocity Technology and ISV Program to demonstrate its commitment to excellence in content-aware compression and deduplication for its Ocarina ECOsystem," said Rob Hazen, Celerra Velocity ISV Partner Manager, from EMC Corporation. "We look forward to working with Ocarina Networks to ensure that our mutual customers have the highest level of support possible for their information infrastructure initiatives."
The combined Ocarina and EMC solution is available immediately.
