Hammer Adds Transcend to Its Portfolio
For flash and external hard disk drives
This is a Press Release edited by StorageNewsletter.com on October 1, 2009 at 3:24 pmStorage distributor Hammer plc has announced Transcend as the latest vendor addition to its portfolio.
Transcend has been a market leader in the memory industry for over 20
years, and last year had the third largest market share for flash
products, and the second largest market share for pen drives worldwide.
Hammer will be distributing Transcend’s range of USB flash drives,
flash cards, card readers & adapters and external hard drives,
allowing for even greater niche opportunities in consumer markets and
widening its product range tailored for this market.
Transcend, who undertake all product research, design and manufacture
in-house, can track every product back to its country and factory of
origin, including which distributor it was sold through, thanks to its
unique serial number tracking system. All flash drives and flash cards
have the added benefit of lifetime warranty.
James Ward, Hammer’s managing director, describes why the Consumer
Storage team, which has achieved great success since its launch last
year, was formed: “In
a market where personal data volumes continue to rise, and after
experiencing increased demand for consumer specific products, a
specialist team which can provide a more precise level of support and
expertise was an obvious step for Hammer. This has proved to be highly
successful and a way of adding value for our customers focusing on the
consumer market.”
Ward describes how the partnership with Transcend will allow Hammer to further fulfill demand for consumer storage products: “The
deal will provide Hammer’s consumer-focused customers with increased
product choice and will afford them additional protection against any
transitory market conditions. At the same time, unique offerings such
as biometric fingerprint recognition USBs and a market leading
co-branding option will provide improved margin opportunities for
resellers, whilst Transcend’s position as the only top tier
manufacturer committed to continuous supply of lower capacity points,
will ensure resellers can maintain current revenue streams on existing
contracts. We look forward to building a successful relationship
together.”
“As a customer-driven technology company we look for the
long-term business partners that share the same high-performance
quality philosophy – Hammer certainly meets that criteria with its
continued commitment and ambition to provide the best customer services
and marketing focus to grow Transcend’s brand,” said Chanaka Tillakaratne, sales manager at Transcend UK. “We
believe this partnership will enable us to significantly grow our brand
in the UK market and to ensure that the market is well-aware of the
superior customer services from Hammer.”
