Comments

That’s a type of company we don’t like at all. Its activity is not to design or produce anything, but to acquire patents - it has more than one hundred on anything from aligned wafer bounding to workspace with moving viewpoint, including some of them on storage technology - and then to attack some firms who are supposed to infringe these patents to finally getting its money by signing license agreement.

Among the victims up to now: Aberdeen, IBM, Symantec and now Digilink.

Last April Acacia Research’ subsidiary Data Network Storage entered into a case for patent infringement on the California Southern District Court against a lot of storage companies – and you don’t know really why these ones were chosen rather than other ones - : Aberdeen, Adaptec, American Megatrends, Buffalo Technology, Compellent , Digilink Technology, D-Link System, Excel Meridian Data, Fujitsu Computer Systems, Fujitsu It Holdings, IBM, Netgear, Nimbus Data Systems, Sun and Wasabi.
