Bert Nordberg Board’s Director of Violin

He is president of Sony Ericsson Mobile Communications.

Violin Memory, Inc., provider of fast and scalable memory appliances, announced that Bert Nordberg, President of Sony Ericsson Mobile Communications, has joined the company’s Board of Directors.

On Oct. 15, Nordberg will assume the role of President of Sony Ericsson Mobile Communications. Before becoming President, he was Executive Vice President of the Ericsson Group and Head of Ericsson Silicon Valley. Nordberg originally joined Ericsson in Sweden in 1996 as the head of Enterprise Services and advanced through the company’s executive leadership structure to serve as EVP of Group Function Sales and Marketing of Telefonaktiebolaget, EVP of Ericsson Services, EVP of Division Global Services, Head of Business Unit Global Services, Head of Business Unit Systems and SVP of Group Function Sales and Marketing.

Violin Memory appliances are specifically designed for scalable, reliable and sustainable use in the data center. These silicon storage appliances scale to millions of IOs per second and tens of terabytes of capacity. In 2010, Violin will deliver density, reliability and per terabyte pricing competitive with enterprise-class performance hard disk drive storage thus transforming the entire pricing structure of the performance storage market.
