Online Backup Firm eFolder Acquires DoubleCheck
And its email filtering software
This is a Press Release edited by StorageNewsletter.com on September 28, 2009 at 2:44 pmeFolder, Inc. has acquired the DoubleCheck Email Security division of Network Management Group, Inc. (NMGI) effective September 1, 2009, including the product line, the development team, and the partner network.
The DoubleCheck Email Manager is a channel-only email filtering product (anti-spam, anti-virus, anti-phishing, etc.), distributed under a wide variety of delivery options. The DoubleCheck Email Manager is a perfect complement to eFolder’s current product line of online backup, local backup, and Exchange email archiving services and will be integrated into the eFolder solutions to provide a single easy to use management interface.
The acquisition will allow eFolder’s extensive network of Partners consisting of VARS, MSPs, Resellers and Solution Providers to offer state-of-the-art email security and filtering services to their customers. These services can be delivered in a variety of options including delivery under a hosted SaaS model (monthly charge based on actual usage) by using DoubleCheck’s filtering cloud or by reselling appliances (upfront cost + annual service contracts) or through the Partner’s own private filtering cloud.
DoubleCheck is a highly reliable, mature product, now in its 5th version, and for the last eight years has been one of the leading channel-only, brandable email security and filtering services. eFolder’s acquisition and retention of the core development team will allow a seamless transition and improved levels of security and performance going forward.
"eFolder has a history of providing best-of-breed technology and superior support to their Partners," said Steve Harper, President of NMGI. "We have been an eFolder Partner for many years and have great respect for their capabilities. I can’t imagine finding a better home for our DoubleCheck solutions and our Partners. We are excited about the future of the combined service offerings and products."
Minimizing the number of vendor relationships is an important goal for many managed service providers. eFolder is now allowing their Partners to simplify their lives by delivering four integrated data protection services while receiving sales support, technical support and training, and invoices from a single vendor. eFolder Partners can thereby improve efficiencies and increase profits without raising prices.
"We feel this acquisition will benefit DoubleCheck and eFolder Partners not only through the new service offerings, but also in the technology synergies that will lead to improvements in our backup and email archiving services as well," said Kevin Hoffman, CTO of eFolder. "The development of our core product line remains just as strong as ever and we will be releasing a new version of DoubleCheck as well as major new enhanced versions of our backup and archiving products very soon."
