asensus and TSMworks Signed Agreement With Bridge2.EU
To develop their respective products, ART and SMARTtsm, in Germany, Switzerland and Austria
This is a Press Release edited by StorageNewsletter.com on September 25, 2009 at 3:24 pmThe two players in the recovery assurance market, asensus and TSMworks, signed agreement with Bridge2.EU to develop their respective products – ART and SMARTtsm in Germany, Switzerland and Austria.
Customers can only afford testing recovery from backup for a few servers. Consequently, hundreds or thousands of servers’ backups remain un-validated. With SMARTtsm customers can test massive amounts of server backups onto a low-cost test platform.
Most enterprises cannot ensure recoverability from backups in a cost-efficient way. Complex hardware and software setup or human errors may give a successful backup but a recovery failure. Of course it proves server recoverability. But it also helps CIOs through compliance audits, and documents RTOs. SMARTtsm and ART target the Tivoli Storage Manager market and address the CIO’s confidence in recoverability of mission-critical servers as well as of all TSM clients in a company.
ART by runs sample restores on an entire TSM site. Each and every computer backed up gets tested. ART finds backups not done for months, unusable tape volumes, excluded disk drives and more. These problems are usually easy to fix – once found. ART has uncovered restorability problems at every production site it has tested. ART is a simple, affordable way to boost a site’s recoverability, and reduce storage costs as well.
Peter Shkurko, Worldwide Sales Manager at TSMworks is confident that "the recent completion of the Distribution Agreement between TSMworks and bridge2.EU will help TSM customers in Central Region to be even more ready for recovery. TSMworks is looking to increase market penetration in Europe and I believe that this relationship will offer tremendous business benefits for both companies and I am looking forward to working closely with bridge2.EU to realize these opportunities."
SMARTtsm, the high-end software developed by asensus, automatically restores complete servers directly from TSM and verifies the backup’s integrity for complex application environments like Exchange and MS SQL. Recovery typically goes onto a low-cost, dissimilar platform as the testing target for many server tests. Another pain to CIO’s is cost. Often a single Disaster Recovery test comes in five or six figures. "Customers can only afford testing recovery from backup for a few servers. Consequently, hundreds or thousands of servers’ backups remain un-validated." says Marin Beurling. "With SMARTtsm customers can test massive amounts of server backups onto a low-cost test platform."
Martin B. Beurling, VP of Sales for asensus is overwhelmed by customer feedback: "Most enterprises cannot ensure recoverability from backups in a cost-efficient way. Complex hardware and software setup or human errors may give a successful backup but a recovery failure."
SMARTtsm concentrates on mission-critical servers. "Of course it proves server recoverability," says Christoffer Buchhorn, Head of Development at asensus. "But it also helps CIOs through compliance audits, and documents RTOs." The RTO, or Recovery Time Objective, is a critical measure of how fast a business function can be restored. SMARTtsm is the smart choice for compliance.
Volker Schlenker from bridge2.EU, a long-time veteran of the HA and Disaster Recovery market, is confident that the addition of ART and SMARTtsm will complete the portfolio of bridge2.EU in the business continuity marketplace and help TSM-customers make best use of their investment in backup technology to guarantee what it has been developed for – being ready for recovery, anytime.
