Condor Storage Rolls Out De-Dup NAS Machine
With partners FalconStor and Nexsan
This is a Press Release edited by StorageNewsletter.com on September 18, 2009 at 3:42 pmCondor Storage, Inc. an Arizona-based systems integrator, has announced their rollout of the Green ‘DeDup SG’ NAS appliance.
Nexsan Technologies‘ DeDupe SG is the only high-performance, data deduplication solution with AutoMAID technology delivering ‘Speed with Green’ to improve operational efficiency.
Condor’s President, Jeanne Wilson, has six years of experience architecting disk vaults [40 drives per 4U shelf, and was an early advocate for density of design and MAID energy savings.
"The density design was solid six years ago, but primary SAN vendors still steered consumers to remain tethered to smaller 14 bay raid arrays for obvious SLA revenue reasons.", said Wilson. "Disk vaults have always delivered a strong ROI to our data hungry clients requiring 24/7 raid protection. Building upon this success and the growing need for speed, uptime and lower power draw in the data center, the Nexsan DeDup SG brings even more financial value to the disk based backup model many firms are striving to incorporate. Nexsan DeDupe SG leverages data reduction through high-speed deduplication, footprint reduction by utilizing space-efficient storage arrays, and substantial energy savings through AutoMAID technology."
She states: "Nexsan has provided us with a rock solid building block raid array for over six years now, which our clients have hosting both production data, disk based backup, NAS secondary storage and huge archival deployments. Many of the arrays we have under service are in their fourth or fifth year of service and still going strong. Nexsan’s simple, intuitive self-installing GUI and advanced LUN management with an open OS model, made it attractive to all types of IT shops. Building a FalconStor appliance on top of this array with the same effortless installation design is what prompted Condor to roll out the DeDup SG appliance. No one wants to buy complexity, or support it."
FalconStor Software FDS, the deduplication engine for the Nexsan DeDupe SG family, is a block-level deduplication software solution that presents a network share interface as a backup repository, offering customers an easy-to-use, space-saving option for writing data efficiently and cost-effectively to disk. Nexsan DeDupe SG maximizes interoperability with all data sources, including disk-to-disk backup and archiving applications. It also can be deployed in any physical or virtual infrastructure environment, offering file-level access to a central block-level deduplication repository. Nexsan DeDupe SG uses policy-based concurrent and post-process deduplication methods for maximum flexibility. The product supports all major backup software, directly accepts Oracle RMAN, Microsoft SQL and other database dumps, and provides integrated data replication and deduplication.
The Nexsan DeDupe SG family is offered in six configurations and available immediately, starting at $49,000 U.S.
