Fujitsu With Two New NAS for Consumers and Small Companies at IFA 2009
The Celvin NAS Server Q600 and Q700
This is a Press Release edited by StorageNewsletter.com on September 4, 2009 at 3:20 pmFujitsu Technology Solutions presents the CELVIN product series at IFA 2009.
The series now has two high-performance network servers ideal for consumers and small companies. The CELVIN NAS Server Q600 and the CELVIN NAS Server Q700 centralize household or company data, making the data available to all devices, whether they are a Windows, Mac or UNIX system. Video gamers will be enthusiastic, as even gaming consoles such as the X-Box 360 or Sony PS 3 can stream videos via the CELVIN NAS Server. Users can access their data wherever they are via iPhone and iPod Touch.
The CELVIN NAS servers are easy to install: the devices are automatically detected and a wizard guides you through the installation routine. They can be used immediately as backup, printer or file server via the standard settings. Large downloads can run directly via the servers. As a result, the PC processor’s resources are available for other tasks. The CELVIN servers are extremely fast: a DVD with 4.7 GB is saved in 135 seconds, while comparable servers require about seven minutes.
"As with all our products, energy consumption has been high on our priority list with the CELVIN series. We have adapted the hard disk power consumption, i.e. disks not in use can be temporarily switched off," explained Dieter Heiss, Senior Director Mobiles & Accessories at Fujitsu Technology Solutions. "If a PC is used day and night as a server, the CELVIN NAS servers can save their owner quite a few Euros a year just through reduced power consumption.”
Functions for companies
It’s especially easy to use CELVIN servers as a user only needs to log on once in order to use all the functions. Fujitsu offers a special data back-up concept for the CELVIN series with a range of setting options. This includes automatic intelligent data backup on several computers, duplicating data on an external server, and mirroring data. The NAS servers can be integrated easily into existing corporate networks using storage software from Acronis True Image, CA BrightStor ARCserve Backup or EMC Retrospect.
The CELVIN NAS Server Q600 is equipped with a hard disk with a storage volume of 500 Gigabyte to 2 Terabyte. The CELVIN NAS Server Q700 even has two hard disks in its housing. Both have three USB ports and a Gigabit Ethernet port. A 1.2 Gigahertz processor and 512 MB DDR 2-RAM give the server read rates of 60 Megabyte per second (MB/s) and a write rate of up to 35 MB/s. Comparable home servers have average speeds of 25 MB/s or 12 MB/s.
The CELVIN NAS Server Q600 with a 500 GB hard disk is priced from 239 Euros. The entry configuration with two 500 GB hard disks for the CELVIN NAS Server Q700 costs 369 Euros. Both products are available immediately in specialist stores and via Fujitsu.
