For interoperability of their respective products BalancePoint and InServ
This is a Press Release edited by StorageNewsletter.com on September 4, 2009 at 3:18 pmAkorri, Inc., in virtual infrastructure performance and capacity management for the dynamic data center, announced a cooperative marketing and sales support agreement with 3PAR, Inc. As part of Akorri’s launch earlier this month of BalancePoint 3.0, the latest version of the company’s virtual infrastructure management software, the company announced interoperability and support for 3PAR’s InServ Storage Server series storage arrays.
With this agreement and interoperability, IT organizations can now leverage Akorri’s BalancePoint 3.0 to troubleshoot, optimize and plan performance and capacity in data centers running 3PAR InServ arrays. The 3PAR InServ can cut an organization’s Total Cost of Ownership for storage by up to 50% by decreasing administration time by 90% and cutting capacity and related expenses by 50%. In addition, 3PAR is now a member of the Akorri PartnerPoint Technology Alliance, and Akorri becomes a 3PAR Alliance Partner. A number of enterprise customers have already deployed BalancePoint and InServ arrays together for their demanding virtual infrastructure performance optimization and utility storage initiatives.
"With 3PAR Utility Storage deployed in a large number of enterprise organizations embracing virtualization today, it is important that we provide our customers with the option to use the industry’s best tools for viewing, managing and optimizing the entire data center with all of its physical and virtual server and storage components," said Craig Nunes, Vice President of Worldwide Marketing at 3PAR. "We are pleased that the recent integration of 3PAR Utility Storage with Akorri BalancePoint gives customers a new option for managing their next generation data center."
"By broadening BalancePoint’s storage support to include market leader 3PAR, customers can get to cloud computing faster," said Jim Comstock, Vice President of Business Development. "With 3PAR’s agility and efficiency and BalancePoint’s virtual infrastructure optimization capabilities, together our customers can operationally advance their virtualization implementation to get the most out of their dynamic data center."
In preparation for demonstration and discussion at VMworld, Akorri unveiled BalancePoint 3.0 earlier this month, introducing richer virtual machine and storage analysis, broader interoperability, and user interface improvements. BalancePoint allows IT organizations to optimize virtual and physical server and storage infrastructure to reduce costs and assure service levels as companies advance through the stages of virtualization adoption and into private cloud computing.
At the same time, Akorri announced its new PartnerPoint Channel Program, featuring new marketing and sales support, better online education and certification, deal registration and margin protection features, brought on by new Akorri executives, Bill Simpson, Vice President of Worldwide Sales and Warren Mead, Vice President of U.S. Channels, both formerly of Virtual Iron.
