Already deployed in several Fortune 500 and federal government organizations, this application has been designed specifically to automate the daunting task of managing the lifecycle of hundreds, even thousands, of hard disk drives (HDD) containing sensitive customer or enterprise data found today in corporate, government and outsourced IT / business process offices and datacenters.
Given the volume and nature of the sensitive information stored on hard disk drives, as well as the rapidly evolving regulatory environment, it is absolutely imperative that organizations protect these assets from theft or loss.
When a company fails to control and protect this information, it can cost tens of thousands of dollars per event, and can lead to fines, multi-year audit requirements and tremendous litigation exposure.
Current information protection and reporting laws such as GLBA, HIPAA, SB1386, and the EU Data Protection Directive have stringent compliance requirements for tracking and maintaining control over the sensitive information contained on hard disk drives. In the event that such an asset is stolen or unaccounted for, the remediation and reporting costs associated with the loss can easily exceed hundreds of dollars per record. A single laptop hard disk drive event can easily cost an organization millions of dollars in fines, labor, and reputation damages.
"Given the volume and nature of the sensitive information stored on hard disk drives, as well as the rapidly evolving regulatory environment, it is absolutely imperative that organizations protect these assets from theft or loss," says Jim Caudill, SVP of marketing and strategy of Xterprise. "When a company fails to control and protect this information, it can cost tens of thousands of dollars per event, and can lead to fines, multi-year audit requirements and tremendous litigation exposure."
Developed on the Clarity application framework, Clarity ITAM HDD can scale to enterprise volumes and leverages advanced RFID capabilities giving IT management the ability to precisely monitor and document the location, movement, chain-of-custody, and the unique destruction processes associated with of these sensitive assets across the enterprise. The application offers significant advantages over traditional manual or barcode-based approaches, measurably improving the accuracy and reliability of asset management.
Such capabilities and benefits include:
- Automatically gathering updates on HDD location and disposition, with configurable event notifications to inform management of any unusual asset movement
- Compile automated chain-of-custody records for end-of-life HDD processes, providing reliable audit documentation for SOX and other GRC requirements
- Reduce compliance-related labor costs by 60% to 75%
- Reduce IT asset leakage up to 50%
"By deploying Clarity ITAM HDD, organizations can protect sensitive information … and themselves," added Caudill.
