Data Robotics Doubles Sales from 2Q08 to 2Q09

Drobo units sold reached 75,000.

Data Robotics, Inc. has achieved 100 percent growth in worldwide sales over the second quarter of 2008. The company’s second quarter sales were also 30 percent higher than first quarter sales and the cumulative number of units sold reached 75,000.

Data Robotics attributes the growth to the demand for its innovative data storage solutions, Drobo and DroboPro. Released in April, DroboPro opened the small and medium sized business market to the company and buyers in this new market rapidly adopted the product to accelerate sales in the second quarter. The company also continued aggressive growth in its channel program with the addition of 240 new resellers.

"Data Robotics is clearly bucking IT and storage industry trends with unprecedented growth in a challenging economy," said Brian Babineau, senior analyst, Enterprise Strategy Group. "This success can be attributed to Data Robotics enabling companies to devote more resources to business growth, and significantly less time and money to managing storage."

Continued Innovation:
DroboPro – Storage that Manages Itself

DroboPro, announced in April, is the first business class storage array that manages itself. DroboPro delivers a radically simplified storage experience enhanced by advanced self-monitoring and self-healing functionality that enables small and medium businesses to maintain uptime in the face of constant data growth. Built on the company’s award-winning BeyondRAID storage platform, DroboPro provides enterprise-level business continuity features – including protection against multiple concurrent drive failures and no-downtime capacity expansion with thin provisioning — while eliminating the limitations of traditional RAID configurations.

"DroboPro has been an incredible addition to our product portfolio and we’ve seen customer demand for the product at three times the rate we originally forecasted," said Dr. Geoff Barrall, CEO and founder of Data Robotics. "We believe our unique ability to take the complexity and high cost out of data storage is resonating well with our customers. We’re committed to delivering innovative, new solutions that further address the storage demands businesses face with the soaring growth of digital content."

Partner Momentum

Data Robotics also added 240 new resellers worldwide in the second quarter as a result of its highly incentivized partner program and unique product offerings. The company sells 100 percent through the channel and has more than 1,200 channel partners worldwide that have sold its award-winning Drobo and DroboPro storage arrays. The company has met success by delivering high margins for solution providers with innovative and easy-to-use technology that undercuts industry giants. Furthermore, Drobo and DroboPro combine the most straightforward user experience available in data storage with robust feature sets and no-downtime scalability – all at the lowest total cost of ownership in the industry.
