StorMagic Adds Customers

In The Netherlands, UK and USA

StorMagic announced that, following the launch of the StorMagic SvSAN storage virtual appliance, the company has recently added worldwide customers in five verticals: education, professional services, utilities, software development, and manufacturing. Customers include Eastbourne Technology College and FMS Ltd in the United Kingdom., ClassBase in the Netherlands, as well as Vermillion Community College, Onslow Water and Sewer Authority, Analog Devices Clark Realty, and Mitsis LLC in the United States.

The StorMagic SvSAN has been helping large and smaller organisations alike achieve highly available shared storage by leveraging the internal disk drives of the VMware environment at a fraction of the cost of traditional SANs. By turning unused storage capacity into a virtual SAN, SvSAN allows IT administrators to benefit from high-end features of the VMware platform such as VMware VMotion, and can deploy a high-availability shared storage solution for VMware environments for less than £1,400/€1,500/$2,000. The StorMagic SvSAN also works with VMware vCenter Server to enable administrators to quickly and easily configure and manage the entire virtual environment from a single management console.

“Our customers and project sizes may be enormous, but our IT budget is not,” commented Joel Hurford, principal at Mitsis LLC, a StorMagic customer. “We needed a shared storage solution that provided high availability and ease-of-use to support our VMware servers without making a significant investment and keeping the current ones.”

The StorMagic SvSAN allows us to get a much higher ROI from our VMware implementation while enabling us to take advantage of features we had not been able to afford before,” said Sam Gaw, technical director at FMS Ltd. “In the current climate, a storage solution that allows us to maximise existing resources and improve availability will get the thumbs up from most budget holders.”

We are very pleased with the success our SvSAN has been enjoying across the United States and Europe. I believe this is due to the fact that, for the first time, our customers unlocked unutilised storage in their VMware environments without adding the cost and complexity of traditional data storage approaches,” said Mike Stolz, vice president of marketing at StorMagic. “Our customer and reseller bases have been growing steadily, and we are confident that the strength of our products will enable continued growth in the server virtualisation market.”
