Devoteam Deployed Seanodes Exanodes VM Edition for VMware
In its test and development lab to speed the time-to-market for its customer projects
This is a Press Release edited by StorageNewsletter.com on July 3, 2009 at 3:46 pmSeanodes announced that European consulting and technology solutions firm Devoteam Group has deployed Exanodes VM Edition for VMware in its test and development lab to speed the time-to-market for its customer projects.
Devoteam has put Exanodes VM Edition to work behind the scenes as hundreds of engineers and technicians design and develop strategic IT initiatives, resources and architectures for Devoteam’s worldwide customers. Exanodes allows the in-house team to create and deploy customer solutions faster, for a fraction of the cost of traditional solutions.
"Our evaluation of storage for our test and development platforms led us to Seanodes, because of the simplicity of the Shared Internal Storage model that lets us use our existing storage resources. As well as its resiliency in various configurations made it a welcome addition to the lab," said Christophe Langard, Storage Expert & Technical Community Manager at Devoteam. "In modeling a technical infrastructure, we consider factors like performance, availability, the ability to update, shared access potential, security, cost control and service quality."
In many industries, businesses invest only minimally in test and development environments, but capacity and performance requirements can still be significant depending on the application. When a business process or platform must be simulated before going into production, the lab setting must mimic the ‘real-world’ scenario as closely as possible. Equipment used in these environments must also be versatile and robust enough to withstand constant configuration and reconfiguration, allocation and reallocation, installs, reinstalls and uninstalls.
"We have identified test and development as a market segment where Exanodes can excel again and again, because of its flexibility and ease of use," said Frank Gana, Business Development Director at Seanodes. "These are not static environments like those found in production, where there’s no reason to even touch a platform that is working well. Storage for a lab setting needs to be completely ambidextrous."
Exanodes is ideal for user environments to maximize capacity, reliability and performance at a lower cost than traditional network storage. Exanodes creates a virtualized storage pool that leverages server-attached storage assets and makes them available as part of a shared, scalable, and resilient storage network and enables companies to maximize the ROI of their current storage technology. Deploying an Exanodes-based storage back end allows companies running VMware for server virtualization to derive the same cost, flexibility, simplicity and other benefits in a fully virtualized computing infrastructure.
