WPTD With NVerzion
Expanding channel operation and media database control
This is a Press Release edited by StorageNewsletter.com on July 3, 2009 at 3:44 pmNVerzion, a 20-year provider of automation control, monitoring and integrated storage management solutions, announced Think TV’s Dayton, Ohio station, WPTD has expanded their existing NVerzion automation package to control 24/7 operation of the station’s 10-14 channels, unattended overnight operations, tape machine/server interface, third party router and master control interface, and to provide a complete media database and interface to the station’s existing traffic system.
This expansion is the fourth to date for WPTD, which recently purchased a 48/1.5 TeraStore from NVerzion at the end of 2008. The station now has four different TeraStore digital archive libraries to dynamically expand storage and interface to on-line servers (SAN), as well as virtually every piece of NVerzion software available.
“We have been doing 10-14 channels since July 2004 with the initial installation and we continue to expand our media storage capability each year to satisfy a never ending disc storage space for expanding demand for HD services,” said George Hopstetter, Engineer for WPTD. “We chose NVerzion again because their software gives us the ability to operate ten digital channels with a single operator. The NVerzion solutions helped us reduce costs, giving us the ability to run overnight unattended operations while giving us the ability to easily expand channel capability in the future without costly upgrades. Technology continues to evolve,” continued Hopstetter, “and NVerzion continues to produce creative and custom solutions to meet technological challenges of today’s broadcast budget, especially during this economically eroded landscape.”
The installation also included NControl master control, NTIME, NBASE/NVIEW, NGEST, NPOINT, NVERO air check for quality reassurance during unattended operation, and EMCNT tape machine and server interface.
