Icy Box IB-MP304S-B: an HDD Multimedia Player With HDMI

What for whom? Who needs what kind of multimedia player today? The bulk of videos, music and photographs stored on hundred thousands of hard drives is definitely not in HD quality. Even the relatively few users who own HD end devices watch TV programs and DVDs in conventional formats. The broad majority doesn’t even have such devices on the shopping list. Not surprising after a look at the prices.

For this majority of users, Raidsonic Technology GmbH has made the new ICY BOX IB-MP304S-B. To play videos it offers all traditional (non HD) formats like VCD, VOB, AVI, MPEG1/2, DIVX3.X-5.X, XviD up to 720p (upscaling). There are the common interfaces Component and Composite. Scart is possible with adaptor. Those with an HD end device will use the HDMI output as well as the included HDMI cable and enjoy the slightly easier cabling. The audio exits too comply with the popular standards as Stereo 2 Cinch (RCA) and SPDIF (coaxial/optical).

You can insert a 3.5“ SATA HDD into the ICY BOX IB-MP304, but you don’t have to. As this multimedia player can also play from drives connected via USB. Two USB interfaces make possible the access to an external HDD – i. e. in another ICY BOX – as well as to sticks or cards. If there is an HDD inserted it can be loaded through the USB interface.

Those who have lots of multimedia files and who are reluctant with the HD standard they will be pleased with the ICY BOX IB-MP304S-B HDD multimedia player. And they don’t pay for things they can’t use.
