New Version of VTL From Dynamic Solutions International

With more robust and streamlined backup process

Dynamic Solutions International (DSI) announced the availability of its next-generation Virtual Tape Library (VTL) offerings for data backup and recovery – DSI9000 version 2.1. The release of the new family of virtual tape library systems offers a more robust and streamlined backup process to ensure security and recovery.

Completely scalable to fit the requirements for small business needs to enterprise-class disk-based backup appliances, the DSI9000 VTL series version 2.1 includes a future-proof architecture, a broad array of redundant components and an advanced – yet easy to operate – user interface. Ideal for users considering either iSCSI/IP or Fibre Channel (FC), DSI’s version 2.1 DSI9000 VTL provides seamless integration into any existing storage network – with standard features that allow a user to copy directly to backend tape and optional features that provide data de-duplication, encryption and replication functionality.

In addition, DSI has added two new appliances to the VTL family, the DSI9682 and the DSI9882, that consolidate the management of backup resources while enhancing the reliability of backup operations and accelerating the speed of recovery. Both products are scalable for applications which range from mid-level to high-end enterprise class implementations and can scale from 24TB to 96TB, with support for 64,000 virtual cartridges. Emulating a variety of drives and libraries, the systems employ RAID data protection, 4Gb FC and iSCSI attachment, GUI management and partitioning.

Preserving the investment in backup policy, DSI’s version 2.1 VTL appliances leverage inbuilt high speed disk to provision virtual tape drives to backup servers that are attached to an iSCSI/IP or FC storage area network (SAN). There is no need to change existing backup software configurations with DSI’s products. The DSI9000 VTL version 2.1 is certified with leading backup applications to maximize compatibility and ensure fast, seamless deployment.

"DSI is committed to offering our customers high performance and optimum recovery that is secure and seamlessly integrates into existing backup systems," said Chris Johnson, vice president of storage systems for DSI. "That is why we continue to enhance our offerings. With data de-duplication, backend tape copy, encryption, replication and scalability options that are unmatched by any other disk-based appliance in its class, our new version of the DSI9000 VTL exceeds the requirements of data-intensive operations for a high speed, tape-free backup."
