Start-Up Druvaa Announces 300% Growth for 1Q09
An enterprise online backup and sync firm, with patent pending de-dupe
This is a Press Release edited by StorageNewsletter.com on June 1, 2009 at 4:17 pmDruvaa Software best known for its enterprise laptop backup offering – Druvaa inSync – once again demonstrated good growth numbers. Recently the specialists yet again announced 300% QYQ (quarter-on-quarter) growth for the last financial year closing in March 2009.
“Overall it was a good year for us. The economic slowdown actually brings new opportunities for small company like ours. Where most of our big competitors have deferred new products, scrapped new initiatives and reduces sales force – Druvaa demonstrated almost 300% QYQ growth rate,” writes Jaspreet Singh, co-founder Druvaa on the corporate blog.
The start-up and its flagship product have won many critical reviews, awards and accolades. The inSync product is laptop backup software designed for remote enterprise users and mobile workforce. The product uses advanced file-fingerprint and data deduplication technology to save only a single copy of content (documents/emails/attachments) duplicated across users. Within an enterprise where over 80-90% data is duplicate on PCs, inSync saves over 90% backup time, bandwidth and storage. With several other truly unique features and highly usable interface inSync is finding a very good customer following.
Druvaa on a Growth Path
Data backup and storage is considered to be a crowded and noisy space. And analysts had sighted earlier in the year that the start-up may not be able to find a place. But the company recently surprised the audience by major customer wins, including a 10,000 license deal from an F500 major in the UK.
“We are not competing on cost but valuable features. Enterprise backup is largely an under-served market with no real innovation by major players for the past several years. Take for example usability – it’s tough to find good enterprise software which can be deployed within a single hour,” says Ramani K, CMD, Druvaa.
The inSync product is available for a free evaluation download and witnesses about 3000 downloads every month. “A highly usable design and online training videos, make sure that customers can deploy the product within 20 minutes. In fact, about 50% of our enterprise sales happen without any hand holding – the customers just download, deploy and purchase online,” says Jaspreet Singh.
What’s Next
Druvaa recently announced beta for its new network backup product for remote and local servers – Phoenix. “Remote data backup is a widely spread and but very underserved problem. With our unique data deduplication approach and WAN Optimization, we believe Phoenix would be a killer proposition,” says Milind Borate, CTO, Druvaa. Phoenix is already learned to have received an unprecedented response for beta program and the company had to close the beta program for more users. “The beta program may again open sometime soon,” adds Milind.
