2009 Revenue of $32.5 Billion for WW Storage Services Market

According to IDC

An IDC study Worldwide Storage Services 2009–2013 Forecast ($4,500) presents a five-year forecast for the storage services market for 2009–2013. IDC estimates 2009 revenue for the worldwide storage services market to be $32.5 billion, forecast to grow to $38.9 billion by 2013.

According to Brad Nisbet, program manager for storage services research at IDC, "While there are pockets of opportunity, storage services cannot escape the negative impact of the economic downturn. Decreased IT budgets are negatively affecting overall spending on project-related consulting services. Integration and support services, which are largely tied to the purchase and deployment of new storage solutions, are the most severely impacted. Management services, although still facing negative pressures, will prove to be the most stable segment, as many organizations will turn to alternative business models to manage expanding infrastructure to keep pace with data growth. In addition, there remain the emerging opportunities associated with the deployment of storage efficiency technologies such as virtualization and data reduction."
