Bell Data to Resell Hifn
In Japan
This is a Press Release edited by StorageNewsletter.com on May 22, 2009 at 3:49 pmHifn, recently acquired by Exar Corporation, signed a distribution agreement with BELL DATA, Inc., a storage solution provider for the Japanese market. The agreement enables BELL DATA to distribute Hifn’s storage products including the newly announced BitWackr data deduplication technology to resellers and end users throughout Japan. The two companies also joined together at the 11th Data Storage Expo in Tokyo, Japan, May 13 – 15, where they highlighted their respective storage solutions.
"Adding Hifn’s technology to our product portfolio enables us to offer highly innovative and market leading storage options," said Hiroshi Onodera, president, BELL DATA. "Data protection is a strong focus for us, and we are pleased to offer Hifn’s compelling storage solutions to our customers."
Hifn’s BitWackr technology delivers real-time, in-line deduplication and compression, reducing the amount of data written to disk. The first capacity optimization solution that reduces data at the point of creation, BitWackr can significantly reduce the cost of storing corporate data by decreasing the amount of storage that has to be purchased and managed. This lowers heat dissipation and cooling expenses, and trims power consumption — the second biggest cost item in the data center. Hifn’s BitWackr adds hardware-assisted data deduplication and compression with thin provisioning for Microsoft-based storage servers and other applications such as NAS, Microsoft SharePoint, and Continuous Data Protection (CDP).
"BELL DATA has established itself as one of the premier providers of electronic solutions in the region," said Steven Yang, division vice president, APAC Acceleration Products. "This announcement helps BELL DATA leverage their relationship with top tier customers and expands their channel and reach into computing and storage markets in which they have a reputation for outstanding customer service. I look forward to partnering with BELL DATA as we work together to penetrate the Japanese market with Hifn’s industry-leading storage solutions."
