$5/Month for 100GB Online Backup Increment From SpiderOak
On May 20th only
This is a Press Release edited by StorageNewsletter.com on May 19, 2009 at 3:57 pmOnline data manager SpiderOak announced a six-hour, 50%-off Economic Recovery Special that will make its online backup, storage, sync and file sharing service available for under $5/month for 2 to 100 GB of data and under $5/month for each additional 100 GB increment for users signing one-year contracts. The promotion – running from 10am to 4pm EST (3pm to 9pm GMT) on May 20th only – can be redeemed by entering the promotion code ‘recovery’ during new user setup or when upgrading an existing account.
Standard SpiderOak pricing – including backup, storage, sync, file sharing and remote file access from any Internet-enabled device – is free for the first 2 GB, $10/month from 2 to 100 GB, and $10/month for each additional 100 GB increment for an unlimited number of devices.
SpiderOak is the only online data storage provider that enables users to store, backup, sync, access and share files from any combination of Windows, Mac and Linux computers as well as external storage media in a single account. All data is stored in a central storage repository, accessible from any device in the user’s virtual personal network, and protected by ‘zero-knowledge’ encryption that prevents even SpiderOak employees from viewing user information including file and folder names.
The sync portion of the service allows documents, music, photos, movies and other files to be sync’d automatically and continuously across Windows, Mac and Linux platforms to ensure that changes in designated folders on a given machine are replicated across all devices. No changes to the user’s existing folder structure are required.
Advanced de-duping available exclusively from SpiderOak cuts backup/sync time by as much as 90%, as well as reducing storage costs by conserving space. The service also offers other unique features including perpetual file and version storage even for older and deleted files, and the ability to aggregate multiple devices in one account to take advantage of bulk storage rates. Multiple redundancy strategies and an automated stress testing and verification system protect customers against data loss.
