Alliance Between Start-Up Axxana and International Computerware, an EMC Reseller

To market Phoenix DR solution in the New England area

EMC reseller International Computerware, Inc. and Axxana announced a partnership to market Axxana’s Enterprise Data Recording (EDR) solutions in the New England area, beginning with Axxana’s first product, the Phoenix System. Axxana will be displaying the ‘black box’ disaster recovery solution at the EMC World conference in Orlando, Florida, May 18-21, 2009.

Axxana’s Phoenix EDR solution is the first to enable 100% disaster recovery with no data loss (RPO=0), without distance limitation between the primary and backup data centers, and for significantly less than the cost of traditional data mirroring alternatives. The Phoenix System complements the asynchronous replication solutions offered by the major storage vendors, enabling the enterprise to protect a local synchronous copy of the most important information – recent write operations – in a next-generation storage device designed to withstand a wide number of extreme conditions. Following a disaster or loss of communication with the primary data center, the Phoenix System EDR enables the rapid extraction of the protected data and reintegration with the asynchronous backup copy at the remote data center, thus fulfilling RTO and RPO objectives.

Axxana has been working with EMC to explore the value of the Axxana Phoenix System in EMC environments, and has tested its Phoenix System along with EMC’s RecoverPoint. These tests, performed with Bynet Communications, validated the ability to perform long distance replication with zero data loss.

Dan Hochberg, Axxana’s Executive Vice President Global Business Development and Sales, commented: “ICI is one of the top disaster recovery storage vendors in North America and we, at Axxana, are pleased to be partnered with a company of ICI’s capabilities. We feel confident that prospective customers in the New England area will benefit from ICI’s deep expertise in the area of disaster recovery and their ability to provide comprehensive solutions based on, and support for, Axxana’s market-changing solutions.

Jamie Shepard, Executive Vice President of Technology Solutions at ICI added: "We are excited about the market potential for Axxana’s innovative EDR technology. In today’s tough economic climate enterprises are looking for ways of significantly reducing cost. Axxana’s innovative EDR technology not only enables enterprises to achieve zero data loss disaster recovery over long distances, an option that hasn’t existed previously, it also enables significant cost savings both in terms of storage and the ability to redesign more cost-effectively their storage environment. Enterprises today interested in reducing cost and are employing synchronous or asynchronous data mirroring for disaster recovery, will want to look closely at this alternative. ”

Leading storag analysts have called Axxana’s technology ‘game changing.’ Axxana was recently named Cool Vendor in Storage Technology and Systems, 2009 by Gartner and was recognized by Network World magazine as one of 10 start ups to watch in 2009. Axxana also won the Wikibon CTO award for Most Innovative Storage Technology of 2008, an award shared with EMC.

ICI services mid-sized to large enterprises from New York City to Maine. The company is an EMC Authorized Services Network Signature (ASN), and is a member of the EMC Global Partner Advisory Board and CTO Council working directly with EMC Engineering. ICI was awarded EMC Partner of the Year North America 2007, Virtualization Partner of the Year Americas 2008, and Services Excellence Partner of the Year Americas 2008.” These distinctions are a direct result of ICI’s in-depth product knowledge and expertise in the field.
