Iceweb Launching Iplicity Storage Manager

A software with the functionality to configure and manage Inline storage systems for multiple petabytes

IceWEB’s INLINE wholly-owned subsidiary has launched its Iplicity Version 1.4 storage management software suite containing all the functionality needed for configuring and managing INLINE Storage systems. With Iplicity, users can manage the value-add enterprise capabilities integrated into the INLINE storage systems, including Multi-Level data protection, block-level mirroring and thin provisioning. The Company believes this newly released software package will allow it to expand its customer base, increase margins and make its software more useful for small to mid-sized companies requiring a flexible software system to accommodate expansion.

Iplicity includes the following features:

Multi-level data protection
Iplicity protects an organization’s data with features and capabilities ranging from the most granular, per transaction data integrity checks to higher level backup and disaster recovery capabilities.

Every read or write made by Iplicity utilizes ISM data integrity. To avoid accidental and silent data corruption ISM provides end-to-end check-summing and transactional copy-on-write IO operations. These operations eliminate the ‘write-holes’ and silent data corruption that have plagued other storage solutions.

Iplicity also offers block-level mirroring via its IDP plug-in feature. Now users can easily set up real time mirroring for disaster recovery and remote backup requirements.

Thin Provisioning
Iplicity is built from the ground up as a revolutionary file system that enables thin provisioning and also improves performance via I/O pooling and storage pooling. This means that users can add more drives when needed without disruption to the environment, assuring complete control over a customer’s rapidly growing storage environment with a powerful, yet simple to use, management interface for administering INLINE storage.

Integrated search and general ease of use
This feature-rich software is used to add capacity, configure new volumes, define mappings, tune performance and handle routine maintenance, all without interrupting user access, so productivity never stops. Additionally, Iplicity users have at their fingertips the ability to set up unlimited numbers of snapshots with the added benefit of indexing and Boolean search in order to enable the management of these snapshots. Using Iplicity search, storage administrators can easily find the content within files that they need to access.

The Iplicity management suite includes the Iplicity Management View, which is a web-based GUI, the Iplicity Management Console, which includes wizards and the ability to record and replay commands across all deployed Iplicity instances, and the Iplicity Storage API, which is a fully documented network based API.

Also, all upgrades are automatically snapshotted, which means users can roll back to a prior version of Iplicity very easily, should one encounter a problem. Iplicity also allows users to snap shoot system configurations, allowing larger users to standardize and clone their common Iplicity configurations. The Expanding Digital Universe and continuing explosive growth of disk based storage means that limitations to legacy storage systems are going to be critically important in the months and years to come.

By providing a simple graphical and console interface
for centralized management of INLINE storage,
administrators are able to:

  • Install and provision INLINE storage devices in less than 5 minutes
  • Create, grow, destroy, export and import storage volumes
  • Share (via NFS/CIFS/RSYNC/FTP) volumes and folders
  • Take snapshots, custom and automated, periodic and on-demand
  • Implement user-defined snapshot retention policies
  • Develop ‘Write Once, Read Many’ policies with the use of the optional ‘WORM’ module
  • Automatically and periodically generate storage and service reports
  • Manage the performance of the system and integrate the system into SNMP based management solutions
  • Discover, configure, and create iSCSI sessions, deploy iSCSI-attached LUNs, and much more
  • Establish fail-over groups with the use of the optional High Availability, ‘HA’, and module
  • Solid State Disks can be utilized for enhanced performance
