CitiDISK HD Portable Tapeless Video Recorder Available From Shining
With up to 500GB HDD
This is a Press Release edited by StorageNewsletter.com on May 7, 2009 at 3:53 pmShining Technology, Inc., provider of tapeless recording and conversion hardware for the video and broadcast industries, announced availability of its patented, award-winning CitiDISK HD ultra-portable tapeless video recorders – now with the industry’s highest recording capacities (up to 500GB).
CitiDISK – Big Things, Small Package
A mere 10.0 oz. with a thin form factor, the battery-operated (up to 80 minutes internal and up to 2.5 hours external) CitiDISK HD easily attaches to virtually any FireWire-enabled video camera. The unit’s tapeless workflow saves videographers and editors countless hours of digitizing videotapes. Instead, they can ‘recapture’ more creative and production time – especially in the field. CitiDISK HD works with most non-linear editing software packages (e.g., Final Cut Pro, Adobe, Avid, Matrox, Canopus and Dayang Montage Extreme), and offers instant playback.
At 500GB, CitiDISK HD can record up to 38.0 hours in DV or HDV, and up to 10.0 hours in HD. This capacity is especially useful to professional videographers, broadcasters and production companies recording in storage-hungry HD. Instead of constantly monitoring and replacing tape, users can enjoy the simplicity of digital video tapeless recording and the convenience of extra long recording times – with enough capacity to capture video virtually all day long.
In addition, both current CitiDISK HD and CitiDISK HDV users have access to firmware updates, which have significantly improved the product’s performance and offer enhanced features. These include cross-compatibility support for HDV, DVCPro50 and HD formats, along with seamless operation of CitiDISK’s ‘Qplay’ feature. For new customers, all DV formats are now covered in one CitiDISK HD model (compatible with Canon, JVC, Panasonic and Sony FireWire-enabled video cameras). The firmware updates are available free of charge.
With its speed, recording times and ultra-portability, CitiDISK HD also leads in value. Competitive external video capture drives are significantly heavier, have a larger footprint and offer less storage capacity while costing nearly double that of CitiDISK HD.
Pricing and Availability
CitiDISK HD is currently shipping worldwide, and is available in 80GB, 120GB and 160GB capacities. Larger 250GB and 500GB capacities are expected to ship in Q3 2009. Pricing starts at an MSRP of $949.00 (US). A complete line of CitiDISK HD accessories is also available, including multiple mounting options.
