This is a Press Release edited by StorageNewsletter.com on May 4, 2009 at 3:47 pmSouth River Technologies, Inc. (SRT), in secure file transfer and collaboration software, announced today a technology partnership with ParaScale, Inc., a cloud storage software company. The partnership provides a complete standards-based solution for accessing data in the cloud.
SRT’s WebDrive, a Universal File Access client, facilitates access to files on remote servers. ParaScale’s Cloud Storage (PCS) software enables companies and service providers to build large storage clouds that can be accessed remotely, offering customers cost and security benefits. WebDrive creates an intuitive access point to files stored in ParaScale’s storage cloud. Both companies have standardized on the WebDAV protocol to facilitate access and collaboration on important business data, while adhering to common internet standards.
"As cloud computing architectures evolve, it is imperative that vendors focus on standards at all levels," said Daniel Sholler, VP of Research at Gartner. "These include web standards, middleware standards and communication standards."
WebDrive provides intuitive access to cloud storage. "We conducted significant testing of numerous WebDAV clients and found WebDrive to be the most stable, high-performance, feature-rich option available. Within ParaScale, we have found it extremely useful for backing up our personal Windows laptops, including Vista-64 machines, to our internal cloud," said Cameron Bahar, founder and CTO, ParaScale, Inc.
The complete solution is available immediately through ParaScale resellers.
