Replay AppImage SQL Pack from Start-Up AppAssure

SQL backup and recovery solution

AppAssure Software, Inc., provider of enterprise-class backup and disaster recovery software purpose-built for Windows applications, today announced a new Replay AppImage SQL Pack which delivers backup speeds that are four times faster than native SQL backups with compression. AppAssure’s new SQL Pack also optimizes storage resources by reducing the overall storage footprint by more than 90%.

The new Replay AppImage SQL Pack was developed to assure comprehensive backup and disaster recovery for SQL Servers — including system and user databases, SQL binaries and the server – making it possible to restore both servers and databases in just minutes. Featuring off-host processing, Replay AppImage eliminates backup overhead and delivers continuous application protection for SQL Server environments along with continuous access to point-in-time databases for simplified recovery.

"The Replay AppImage SQL Pack was designed specifically for the DBA that needs to dramatically reduce database backup windows and backup storage costs while speeding time to recovery," said Najaf Husain, CEO and president, AppAssure. "With continuous application protection, administrators never need to worry about lost data sets. And because Replay AppImage continuously images the entire server including all the tables, indexes, system tables and the database objects in those tables, DBAs can be assured that recoveries are both reliable and lightning fast."

The Replay AppImage SQL Pack enables DBAs to restore SQL databases to a local or remote SQL Server in just minutes with just a few clicks of the mouse.

The new version:

  • Protects the entire SQL environment – including system and user databases, logs, operating system and SQL binaries
  • Eliminates the backup window with off-host backup processing
  • Streamlines disaster recovery with push button failover to a virtual standby of production SQL servers
  • Simplifies management of all backup and recoveries through a centralized console
  • Enables continuous access to point-in-time databases for recovery

In addition to the new features of the Replay AppImage SQL Pack, the new base Replay AppImage version 3.1 also adds image portability through scheduled exports of recovery points to any location including USB, NAS, DAS and SAN devices. Using an easy disk partitioning tool, users may automatically partition the server disks to match the image layout. Replay AppImage also now enables concurrent restores for multiple volumes and delivers restore support for dissimilar hardware or virtual machines including P2P, P2V, V2P, V2V migrations.

"The latest changes to AppAssure’s Replay AppImage, to clear inactive transaction records from the Log File, are making this solution a serious player in the SQL Server backup arena," said Bryan Oliver, an Independent SQL Server Expert and Mentor for SolidQ Australia. "No longer will the log keep growing once a snapshot has been taken. This means that the log file only needs to store a maximum of 15 minutes of transactions under its default configuration of 15 minute snapshots."

Replay AppImage version 3.1 and the new SQL Pack are available now with pricing starting at $899 USD per server for the base product and $499 per SQL instance for the SQL Pack. For more information or to download a trial, please visit: http://www.appassure.com/Resources/downloads.aspx.
