Remote Backup Systems Reduces Prices

Remote Backup Systems, Inc., developer of the RBackup and Mercury OEM Online Backup platforms, has announced a price reduction on its Virtual Hosting service. This Software as a Service (SaaS) allows companies to start their own branded Online Backup business in the Cloud using RBS’ software and data center.

Cloud computing is on the rise with small technology based businesses because it is more cost effective and more stable than traditional in-house solutions. RBS Virtual Hosting is an alternative to purchasing hardware and software to operate an Online Backup service.

Virtual Service Providers distribute RBS’ industry leading Remote Backup Client software to their customers, who back up to RBS’ Private Cloud. VSPs maintain their own customer relationships, determine their own end-user pricing, and distribute software with their own branding.

• Setup fee is now $500 (was $750)
• Setup fee WITH graphics customization is now $750 (was $1,000)
• Client License fee per month is now $2.00 (was $5.00)
• Per Gig storage (maximum) fee is now $2.00 (was $5.00)
• RBS offers lower client license and storage fees for higher quantities.

“We were able to upgrade the equipment for our data centers at a much lower price, so we are in turn able to reduce prices to our customers who host in our Private Cloud,” explained Rob Cosgrove, CEO. “This is something we’ve wanted to do for a long time, anyway. $2/gig is a wholesale rate that lets our customers be much more competitive.”

Virtual Service Providers manage their accounts through a web-based portal that gives them the ability to customize their client software, build installers on the fly, run reports, do recurring billing, and sell Online Backup services from their web site by linking the Portal with their credit card processor.

The software they distribute is RBackup Version 10, which supports brick-level backups and restores of open Exchange 2003 and 2007 databases, live backups of SQL Server and MS Outlook, Active Directory, System State, Sharepoint, open and locked files, and regular files and folders.
