If the deal is done, it will be the first time that EMC will enter into the storage connexion market since 1996 when the company acquired McData for $230 million. The manufacturer of directors was spun off in 2001 and acquired by Brocade five years later for $713 million in stock. For HBAs, switches and directors, EMC is working with all the main manufacturers: Brocade, Cisco, Emulex and QLogic
