Compellent SAN Compatible Wih VMware vSphere

For next-generation computing

Compellent Technologies, Inc. announced that its storage area network (SAN) Compellent Storage Center supports VMware vSphere. VMware vSphere is the industry’s first cloud operating system, transforming datacenters into dramatically simplified cloud infrastructures to enable the next generation of flexible, reliable IT services. VMware vSphere gives customers uncompromising control, with greater efficiency, while preserving customer choice.

By supporting VMware vSphere, Compellent Technologies can further extend the value of Compellent Storage Center into customers’ next-generation datacenters and help enable customers to manage large collections of infrastructure – including CPUs, storage and networking — as a seamless, flexible and dynamic cloud environment.

Compellent Storage Center is already VMware Ready Certified, meaning Compellent Storage Center has completed the VMware Hardware Certification Program testing criteria for use with VMware vSphere and is now listed on the VMware Hardware Compatibility Guide. The VMware Hardware Certification Program enables VMware Technology Alliance Partner (TAP) program members to provide mutual customers with jointly supported hardware solutions. Passing the extensive certification testing helps ensure that Compellent Storage Center is compatible with VMware technology and ready for deployment in customer environments.

"We are pleased that Compellent Technologies is taking the next step to helping provide customers with a more flexible, reliable and scalable computing environment," said Bernie Mills, senior director, alliance programs, VMware. "By supporting VMware vSphere, our partners can further enable increased efficiency, control and choice for customers."

"Compellent provides customers with the solutions they need to virtualize the data center; our unique storage features — combined with VMware’s platforms – save time, space and money, while simplifying server and storage management," said Bruce Kornfeld, vice president of marketing for Compellent. "This latest VMware certification enables end-users to drive efficiencies, best utilize IT hardware, lower energy costs and improve management."

"Using Compellent and VMware in unison enables us to offer a high-performance, flexible IT infrastructure that easily responds to changing business demands," said Keith Groom, director of product management at Softchoice, a Compellent channel partner and VMware-certified solution provider. "End-users are looking for integrated, best-of-breed virtual data center technologies and still stay within budget, and we are able to offer a solution that meets their production and business continuity requirements."

The VMware Ready program is a VMware co-branding program for qualified partner products and is a benefit of the VMware Technology Alliance Partner (TAP) program. With more than 1000 members worldwide, the VMware TAP program works with best-of-breed technology partners to provide them a comprehensive set of VMware technical and marketing services, support, tools and expertise to deliver enhanced value to joint customers.
