Miami Country Day School Selects LiveOffice
For a cloud-based email archiving solution supporting 1,000 mailboxes
This is a Press Release edited by StorageNewsletter.com on April 20, 2009 at 3:44 pmLiveOffice, a trademark of LiveOffice LLC an a provider of software-as-a-service (SaaS) email hosting, email archiving and email continuity solutions, announced that Miami Country Day School has successfully implemented LiveOffice Mail Archive to satisfy new state and federal legislative and e-discovery preparedness requirements.
As a K-12 college preparatory school, Miami Country Day School must keep pace with the latest technologies to meet e-discovery guidelines and regulations, especially when it comes to managing their email communications. With many email archiving options available, Miami Country Day School selected Mail Archive for its rich feature set and rapid deployment model. "When it came to archiving, we knew we had to be proactive and take a leadership role," said Donna Lenaghan, director of technology for Miami Country Day School. "We had a problem to solve, and LiveOffice provided the most comprehensive solution."
"Mail Archive eliminates a lot of questions, and we don’t have to worry about it, because we know that emails can’t be modified," said Dennis Cote, Miami Country Day School’s IT service manager. "It’s a matter of convenience. We can tag emails for legal reasons, and it gives us a real chain of custody, which we never had before. It’s a lot of work to prepare for a legal case — going through machines individually, searching archives, dealing with PSTs, etc. We can avoid these time-consuming headaches with the [Mail Archive] service, because it’s so much easier to search for and tag specific emails."
In addition, with only three full-time IT staff supporting 1,000 end users, the organization was looking for enhanced mailbox management tools to reduce mailbox sizes and eliminate quotas. "We were hampered by quotas for 20 years, until we migrated to Microsoft Exchange and added archiving," noted Cote. While an on-premise email archiving solution was a consideration, Miami Country Day ultimately chose LiveOffice’s software-as-a-service solution because it was able to meet all the requirements, while also freeing up the technical staff to focus on more strategic initiatives.
Miami Country Day School was also impressed by the built-in network security features. LiveOffice provides an additional layer of advanced spam-and-virus protection to ensure the utmost security of the school’s email communications. Not only do teachers and other staff use email on a daily basis, but students also receive email accounts beginning in the sixth grade until they graduate. "We are responsible for providing the best and safest network for our students and their families," said Donna Lenaghan, director of technology. "Security is essential."
Mail Archive provides even more value to Miami Country Day School because it also serves as a disaster recovery and email continuity solution. In the event that the school’s on-premise Exchange Servers experience significant downtime or catastrophic loss, all of its email is still safe and available through Mail Archive. "We were looking for brick-level backups of our Exchange Servers, and LiveOffice Mail Archive gave us two in one [archiving and backups]," concluded Cote.
