InteliCloud Closes Series A Funding Round

Led by Media One Direct

InteliCloud, a developer and manufacturer of network equipment, announced the closing of its Series A round of financing led by Media One Direct, a company that is developing and building a next-generation content delivery network.

InteliCloud is applying the funds to support and fulfill orders for the recently launched InteliCloud 360, a re-imagined network infrastructure that tightly integrates off-the-shelf components with proprietary hardware and software into a single chassis, dramatically simplifying the operation, scalability and overall agility of the network.

This funding gives InteliCloud the ability to capitalize on opportunities in the rapidly changing datacenter market and demonstrates support for InteliCloud’s ability to provide seamless scalability to address growth in content, services and delivery that enhance the user experience,” said Ken Hubbard, president and CEO of InteliCloud. “The company has been very judicious in its spending of investment funds to this point, using best-of-breed technologies, outsourcing and partnerships to bring the InteliCloud 360 to market in a highly cost-efficient manner. We plan on continuing that strategy going forward.”

The InteliCloud 360 is capable of simultaneously carrying a multitude of traditional services, such as voice, video and data, and next-generation Web 2.0 services, all originating from a single network. The benefits for Internet service providers (ISPs) includes more than a 60 percent reduction in power and space requirements, with a three-fold increase in the number of customers served per square foot when compared to today’s market-leading blade and rack mount servers.

We are pleased to partner with InteliCloud,” said Charles Overton, CEO and managing director, Media One Direct. “The breadth and depth of InteliCloud’s technology, its commitment to innovation and its management strength places the company at the forefront of the next-generation network market.

Al Garcia, western region vice president of Norvell Electronics, said InteliCloud’s quick path toward success piqued the interest of the 54-year-old power products and value-added services distributor. Norvell is teaming with InteliCloud as the start-up’s power supply provider.

Norvell’s experience with start-up companies is that it normally takes 3-5 years before these accounts succeed,” Garcia said. “InteliCloud is on a much faster track than most start-up companies we have worked with. In fact, they have progressed from design to preproduction in less than a year’s time. Norvell is excited to be partners with InteliCloud and we look forward to their continued success.”
