Coraid Reduces Prices of 16TB and 24TB EtherDrive SAN
Now at $6,995 and $7,995 respectively
This is a Press Release edited by StorageNewsletter.com on April 13, 2009 at 3:43 pmCORAID, Inc. announced a price reduction for the high performance SR-series of EtherDrive SAN products. The SR1661 and SR2461 storage appliances now list for $7,995 and $6,995 representing price reductions of 22% and 20%, respectively. With the current economic weakness, cost awareness is heightened with many organizations focusing on streamlining, consolidation, and efficiency through virtualization technologies. Server virtualization results in storage networks becoming more critical than ever with increasing demands for affordably fast SAN. EtherDrive SAN products, delivering Fibre Channel speeds at Ethernet prices, offer the best enterprise-class solutions that embrace virtualization for the demands of today’s IT organizations.
"Through innovation and continuing cost reduction efforts, we are now able to offer substantial price reductions for our high performance SR-series of EtherDrive SAN appliances providing over 500 Mbytes/sec of RAID storage," said James Kemp, CEO of CORAID. "We are committed to delivering affordably fast SAN that is easily scalable, simple and reliable. To meet the demands for block-level storage required by server virtualization, our EtherDrive product line delivers Fibre Channel speeds at a fraction of the cost of iSCSI-based storage."
Specifying a storage area network as part of the server virtualization program brings critical options that don’t exist with other storage strategies. The SAN opens up options for redundancy, snapshots, thin provisioning, and addressing disaster recovery plans effectively. All virtual machines can be stored on the SAN, giving IT a higher level of RAID protection, automatic replication, and host/application recovery, all factors fueling the increasing need for more SAN storage. CORAID EtherDrive SAN products are well positioned to deliver the most affordable high performance SAN technologies available for the virtualization infrastructure.
CORAID EtherDrive SAN products utilize the open ATA-over-Ethernet (AoE) lightweight network storage protocol. Unlike iSCSI solutions, the AoE protocol transports ATA disk commands over Ethernet without the burden of TCP/IP overhead. EtherDrive SAN uses purpose-built software leveraging commodity components to achieve unparalleled price and performance.
EtherDrive SAN provides fast storage area network solutions exceeding Fibre Channel speeds at Ethernet prices. Exploiting commodity components to deliver affordably fast SAN, EtherDrive is simple to understand and easy to use.
