Software Options for Some Cisco and QLogic Products Remain Available by IBM
For use in BladeCenter systems
By Jean Jacques Maleval | April 6, 2009 at 3:44 pmThe following software options that were previously withdrawn from marketing will continue to be for use in IBM BladeCenter systems:
- Cisco Systems 10-Port License Upgrade for 4 Gb Module (39Y9290)
- QLogic-McData 4 Gb 10-Port Upgrade License (32R1912)
- QLogic 20-Port Full Fabric License (43W6839)
The QLogic 4 Gb SAN Switch Modules are full-fabric Fibre Channel (FC) Switches and are available in both 10- and 20-port active configurations, which enable high-performance 1, 2, and 4 Gb per second SAN solutions. The 10-port model can also be upgraded to 20 ports through the purchase of a key (32R1912).
The Cisco Systems 4 Gb 10- and 20-port FC switches for BladeCenter enable high-performing end-to-end SAN solutions using 4 Gb FC technology. Both Cisco switch modules allow seamless integration of IBM BladeCenter into Cisco fabrics. This expanded connectivity presents a diskless storage opportunity for the server architecture.
This software license upgrade provides pay-as-you grow upgradeability for the Cisco 10-port 4 Gb Fibre Channel switch module.
The 20-port full fabric upgrade license is used to upgrade the QLogic 4 Gb Intelligent Pass-thru Module to a full-fabric, 20-port switch.
