Media Distributors Archive Station

Providing automatic archive of professional video content

Media Distributors, provider of services, systems, and products for professional audio and video production announced that its Rental Station division has unveiled a new secure storage solution that provides automatic archive of professional video content. The Archive Station, designed for both tapeless and tape-based workflows, is a fully-integrated single road case system that can be used for either on-location or in-house productions.

A one button power-up solution, Archive Station provides production companies with secure back-up and rapid access to archived video content. The system enables play-out to either Blu-ray Disc or LTO media and provides for cloning on additional portable hard drives, for safe geographic separation of content. The Archive Station supports both Windows and Mac OS environments, captures all metadata included with video files, and maintains linking of project files from online to archive medium. The system offers full asset management support for all archived content, and supports both Apple Final Cut Pro and Avid workflows. Customers can use Archive Station to archive video directly from existing Firewire, USB or Serial ATA drives and can extend the system to work with additional online content on RAID, NAS, and SAN storage.

"Our customers have sought the most secure archival solutions for their assets, including on-location environments, and Archive Station is the ideal road-ready product for the most intensive video productions," said Steve Klein, CEO of Media Distributors. "We wanted to design a system that is built to preserve our customers’ best work, and would act as an automatic archive system for video assets. The Archive Station fully complements our Remote Station system, and integrates our recently-introduced Constellation VCM asset management software."

The Archive Station supports leading professional video formats, including P2, EX3, RED utilizing CODEX Digital System; and fully supports ARRI, Sony F23/F35, Varicam, DVCPro and JVC Viper cameras. The Archive Station is sold and rented for both LTO (full price: $15,550; weekly rental at $1,195) and Blu-ray Disc (full price: $11,999; weekly rental at $895) storage configurations.
