Online Backup Firm Vault400 to Incorporate *noMAX Replication Software From Maximum Availability
As part of its tiered recovery offering
This is a Press Release edited by StorageNewsletter.com on April 2, 2009 at 3:56 pmUnited Computer Group, Inc. and Maximum Availability Limited announced the finalization of an agreement enabling UCG to incorporate *noMAX replication software technology as part of its tiered recovery offering to current and prospective Vault400 clients. Maximum Availability is a leader in High Availability and Disaster Recovery Solutions for servers running IBM i. In addition to Vault400, UCG has been delivering value-based business solutions including IBM midrange hardware for over 22 years and has served 650+ clients.
This important agreement enables UCG to provide a fully managed ‘hot backup’ High Availability and Disaster Recovery solution utilizing the *noMAX Suite alongside their popular Data Vaulting solution Vault400. Customers who need to satisfy a Recovery Time Objective (RTO) of one hour or less can deploy *noMAX real-time replication, while those who are content with a 12 or 24 hour RTO can use Vault400’s shared or dedicated hardware RTO offerings. In both cases data is replicated directly to highly secured and fully managed data centers.
This is a strategically important agreement for not only both organizations but the IBM i marketplace in general because it marks the first time that a combined tiered Data Vaulting and Data Replication solution has been developed for the end-user.
It also signals an evolution in the IBM i space where the requirement to minimize or eliminate downtime through the replication of data in real-time to a remote location is growing exponentially and in parallel with the need for outsourced business continuity and disaster recovery services.
According to Simon O’Sullivan, Senior VP of Maximum Availability, “We are excited and eager to go forward with UCG, a company that has had a noticeable impact on the IBM i marketplace with its electronic vaulting offering.”
UCG’s selection of the *noMAX solution was made after a comprehensive evaluation process from a range of HA & DR solutions. “Being a single source for a wide range of remote data storage and disaster recovery solutions means that customers can leverage our knowledge and ultimately obtain a solution that best suits their requirements,” says Jim Kandrac, UCG’s president. “With solutions that cover a broad spectrum, we are unbiased and can do what’s best for our clients.”
