Mellanox 40Gb IB Switches for HP

And its ProLiant G6 server blades

Mellanox Technologies, Ltd. announced that its 40Gb/s InfiniBand ConnectX adapter and InfiniScale IV-based blade switch have been integrated across the new line of HP ProLiant G6 server blades for the HP BladeSystem c-Class platform. The new HP ProLiant G6 server blades incorporate Intel’s recently announced Xeon Processor 5500 Series (formerly codenamed Nehalem), fueling the need for InfiniBand’s industry-leading CPU utilization and bandwidth capabilities. According to Gartner, the compound annual growth rate (CAGR) for blade server shipments from 2008 through 2013 is forecasted to be 20.8% and to reach more than 2.5 million units in 2013, representing the fastest-growing server form factor over the next five years.

Mellanox’s 40Gb/s InfiniBand adapters and switches deliver unparalleled performance and scalability, enabling true I/O consolidation for unified and virtualized data centers and high-performance computing,” said John Monson, vice president of marketing at Mellanox Technologies. “The combination of Mellanox products and HP’s new server blades provide data center IT managers with a powerful yet energy-efficient hardware platform that delivers peak productivity.”

Customers need increased processing power and on-demand scalability of their data center environments to accommodate today’s performance demands and tomorrow’s business growth,” said Mark Potter, senior vice president and general manager, Enterprise Servers and Storage (ESS) Infrastructure Software and Blades, HP. “The latest HP BladeSystem server combined with the newest Intel Xeon 5500 processor, and Mellanox’s 40Gb/s InfiniBand solutions, help customers realize the full potential of their systems.”
