Business Disk Stations
For serious business customers who want an affordable, high-performing, scalable solution, the DS509+ is Synology’s flagship model in the Disk Station ‘Business Class’ lineup. Business users will appreciate the high performance and flexibility to expand volumes on the fly. The DS509+’s performance, 5 bays of hot swappable drives, and RAID 0/1/5/6 support makes it ideal for growing businesses looking for automated secure server backups, cross platform file sharing, mail server capabilities and a built-in surveillance system for under $1000.

Additional business class models including the DS409+, a four-bay model, RS409+, a four-bay Disk Station in 1-U format, and the RS409+RP, four-bay with redundant power, will be available in April 2009. The DS109+, single-bay, will be available in May 2009, and the DS209+II, a two-bay model, will be available in summer 2009.

Mid-Entry Disk Stations

For small workgroups looking for more power and storage than a basic NAS, the DS109, DS209 and DS409 models are high-performing for multimedia file sharing, printer sharing, website hosting, surveillance and data backup. The DS109, a single-bay model, will be available in April 2009. The DS209, a two-bay model, and DS409, four-bay model, will be available in May 2009.

Entry-Level Disk Stations
Home and SOHO users will find performance and value in the entry-level ‘j’ series starting at under $150. An economical solution to file sharing, managing photos, streaming media, website hosting and data backup, the ‘j’ series Disk Stations boast the same features of the DSM 2.1 that the business-class models offer. The DS109j, a single-bay model, and DS209j, two-bay model, will be available in April 2009.

Affordable eSATA Scalability & Backup with the DX5/RX4

The new Synology DX5/RX4 introduces effortless volume expansion and data backup DS409+, DS509+, RS409+ and RS409RP+. Using the DX5, storage is easily expanded by adding an additional five bays of storage on the fly. One step eSATA plug-in allows the DX5/RX4 to connect to the Disk Station, and function almost immediately. No additional software installation is required. "With the addition of the DX5 and RX4 to the Disk Station line-up, we’re solving storage expansion problems easily, and affordably," says Doug Self, product specialist for Synology America Corp.

DSM 2.1

The Disk Station Manager 2.1 Software built with AJAX technology, adds new mail server capabilities with the installation of the Mail Station add-on, and enhances the Synology Surveillance Station, storage management, user management, and privilege management. The Disk Station Manager 2.1 is available with all 09 series Synology Disk Stations, and free upgrades are available through Synology’s website for most models.

Synology will be showcasing the new 2009 Disk Stations at the Interop Conference in Las Vegas, NV, May 17th to the 21st, 2009.
