Acer Adds 30-Day Trial of Carbonite Online Backup Service

Carbonite, Inc. announced a partnership with Acer Inc. to provide Carbonite’s award-winning online backup service to Acer’s consumer customers on select PCs shipping to the U.S. and Canada. As part of the partnership, Acer Travelmate and Aspire branded computers ship with a free trial of Carbonite Online Backup(TM) pre-loaded.

Pre-installed on select Acer brand computers shipping to the U.S. and Canada, Carbonite prompts the user to initialize the backup service the first time the computer is connected to the Internet.

• Once activated with an email address and password, Carbonite runs quietly in the background, continually backing up all data files.
• Carbonite finds all new and changed files and automatically backs them up whenever the PC is connected to the Internet.
• Data is encrypted before leaving the local computer and is transmitted to Carbonite’s secure data center using HTTPS (SSL) for total privacy.
