Chelsio Completes Certification of Software Drivers for Solaris

For its 10GbE adapters

Chelsio Communications, Inc. has completed certification of software drivers for the Solaris Ready Program, which includes OpenSolaris Operating Systems (OS) from Sun Microsystems, bringing the performance and total cost of ownership benefits of its Unified Wire adapters to OpenSolaris-based servers in enterprise data centers.

Chelsio 10GbE adapters, which now include the Solaris Ready logos, currently support the multifunction NIC driver, and additional features of the Unified Wire will be released later this year. The driver supports PXE and iSCSI Boot today, and Chelsio will also introduce offloaded iSCSI initiator and standard iWARP RMDA as part of the support roadmap, planned for this year as well.

"Chelsio is a key player in the push to deliver converged network solutions and we are happy to see Chelsio Unified Wire adapters offer proven interoperability with the Solaris Operating System by completing the Solaris Ready Certification Program," said Cynthia Hardenbrook, director, ISV Engineering at Sun Microsystems.

"We are pleased that our Unified Wire adapters are now logo certified for enterprise data center environments for the Solaris Ready programs," said Kianoosh Naghshineh, president and CEO of Chelsio. "Our all-in-one adapters future proof Solaris installations, delivering fabric convergence and enabling lower total cost of ownership through power savings and platform flexibility."

The drivers for OpenSolaris and Solaris 10 are available from Chelsio and its distributors.
