Imation Showcased National Media Lab and Storage Products

At West 2009

Imation Corp. showcased its National Media Lab (NML) and suite of storage products at West 2009, the largest state-of-the-art defense and technology exposition and conference on the West Coast at the San Diego Convention Center, Feb. 11-13, 2009.

Co-sponsored by The Armed Forces Communications and Electronics Association (AFCEA) and the U.S. Naval Institute, the show featured exhibits from more than 400 technology leaders and discussions by leading military experts. The NML functions as an independent and unbiased source for data storage consulting and information lifecycle management services. Based in an R&D facility located at Imation’s world headquarters in Oakdale, Minn., the lab is designed to support unique government requirements and is managed by storage experts who analyze and resolve data issues, customize storage solutions, and develop next-generation storage technology.

"Imation has a long-standing history as a partner, consultant and supplier to the U.S. government. The National Media Lab is committed to helping government agencies and departments solve complex data storage backup, archive, recovery and security issues to help them achieve their missions where data integrity and preservation are critical," said Keith Schwartz, director of global strategic growth and public sector, Commercial Business, Imation. "Our legacy in tape storage technology and our broad range of diagnostic tools and expertise helps puts the NML in a unique position to help address issues at any stage of the information lifecycle."

The NML serves as a storage consultant and information lifecycle management service provider and focuses on storage challenges facing the industry including performance and reliability of new storage systems; the best way to identify commercial-off-the-shelf or custom products for specific government applications; data distribution and preservation; data access; disaster recovery and business continuity planning; and crisis situations that require media stabilization for data recovery.
