The certification of the SMC TigerSwitch 10G Managed Switch and 10GBASE-X XFP Transceivers (SMC10GXFP-SR and SMC10GXFP-LR) with the RELDATA 9240 Unified iSCSI Storage System, which delivers integrated iSCSI SAN, NAS and WAN replication functions from a single, high-performance virtualized platform, ensures system compatibility and maximum throughput to support the demanding performance of virtualized network environments of enterprise and SMB customers.
"As a growing number of SMB and enterprise companies migrate their networks to 10Gbps speeds to support bandwidth-intensive applications such as virtualization and high-performance computing, the need to be able to support those applications with a high-performance storage solution is increasingly becoming a concern in the migration plan," stated David Hubbard, President and CEO of RELDATA. "This certification is particularly exciting for us because this gives network administrators the option of deploying our iSCSI SAN solution at its full 10G capability through the full wire-speed performance delivered by the SMC solution. Virtualized network environments require a high-speed virtual storage platform and our combined products deliver a solution that offers a winning combination of versatility, scalability, performance, and value that will drive the adoption of high-performance storage across the SMB and enterprise markets."
"The certification of our 10G Ethernet switching solution with the RELDATA 9240 storage system is of great importance to our growing base of customers that have or are seriously considering the migration of their network infrastructures to 10G to support applications such as virtualization, video streaming and the transfer of large data files," explained Iain Kenney, Director of Product Marketing at SMC Networks. "While companies realize the performance benefits that can be obtained by migrating their networks to 10G, the associated costs and time required to do so can make it difficult to transition all of their hardware and adapters at once, especially in this difficult economic climate, so they typically have a mix of devices on the network that are transferring data at 10G, 1G and 10/100Mbps speeds. The certification of our 10G switch with the RELDATA 9240 storage system ensures that the two products will work together seamlessly to eliminate potential bottlenecks between the network and the storage platform while providing the highest level of performance and reliability in high-performance and virtualized networking environments."
