The ThinkPad 250 GB 7200 rpm FDE Serial ATA Hard Drive is a hardware-based, full-disk encrypted hard drive that, coupled with the hard drive password, offers an advanced data protection solution to ThinkPad users. The full-disk encryption helps to protect personal and company data stored on this hard drive from unauthorized access, in the event a hard drive or system is stolen, retired, or sold. For additional storage and backup, use the optional new ThinkPad Serial ATA Hard Drive Bay Adapter II (43R1980) to install the ThinkPad 320 GB and 250 GB FDE 7200 rpm hard drives in the following media bays:

• Supported ThinkPad laptops, including selected ThinkPad T400/T500, W500/W700, and R400/R500 Series notebooks
• ThinkPad X200 UltraBase

For additional storage and backup on other ThinkPad systems use the optional ThinkPad Serial ATA Hard Drive Bay Adapter (40Y8725) to install the ThinkPad 320 GB 7200 rpm Serial ATA Hard Drive and 250 GB 7200 rpm FDE Serial ATA Hard Drive in the following media bays:
